Those were the days

When I described the parades in the book, I mentioned that the partiers walked along with the parade. I also noted that there was bunting hanging from the buildings. Old pictures provided me with a lot of info to describe scenes, the same way I used the picture of a sailor in Jackson Square to build the Hansen character. In the Mardi Gras pictures, isn’t it amazing how dressed up everyone is? People took more pride in their appearance in those days. If you look at pictures of baseball games in the 50’s and early 60’s, you’ll see the men in white shirts and ties. My wife says I’d wear a suit to mow the lawn if she’d let me.
