Ash Wednesday

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, a time of reflection on our past deeds, making amends, and reflecting on our future. 82 years ago on Ash Wednesday, Georgie, the main character of my book, "The Crossings," attended services at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans after traveling there to take in the Mardi Gras. It wasn't in Church that he did his reflecting, but in the company of a wise old sailor he met in Jackson Square. The old sailor may have changed his life. May all of you find the "wise old sailor" in your life.
